Recently my thirteen year old niece was told that she needed to cut out dairy and wheat from her diet, due to some skin allergy. So far she is doing well on the diet and benefiting from its outcome, from what I’ve heard. But what’s interesting, is that I was told some years back that I needed to cut dairy and wheat from my diet. And also I know that at the time, I was also much healthier for it. But of course, old habits die hard, and slipped back into eating the wrong foods…or at least those foods that were causing certain health related reactions.

So anyway, I have decided that I am going to ease my way back into the no dairy, no wheat diet, even though it will mean cutting out certain foods I really enjoy and grocery shopping may be a bit of an extra chore trying to find products that don’t contain wheat. Although, it seems to be somewhat of a common diet amongst people, so it may not be as difficult as I think. The worst part of it all is that I will have to drink soy milk, which I don’t really like all that much. However, back when I was originally on this diet, I did find some soy milk that wasn’t too bad. It was at least drinkable.

But even worst than the soy milk, is the fact that I’ll have to cut out chocolate. Yes I know there is that carob stuff, which is a substitute for chocolate. But I have eaten that so called carob chocolate, and it is an insult to my taste buds. So I guess I will have to go cold turkey when it comes to chocolate. However, I am going to finish off the chocolate that is in my refrigerator, as a final goodbye to that sweet chocolate goodness.

Hi! I just wanted to let both of you who read this blog know that I am still in the land of the living. Yes, I know I have been a bit behind on the blogging lately. But unfortunately with this colder weather we’ve been having, my sinuses tend to play up more. Not that I’m complaining too much, because I actually prefer the cooler weather to the hot weather. The sinus trouble is just one of those unfortunate side effects. Further more, it tends to make me tired and therefore unmotivated.

In addition to the sinus trouble, I’ve also had writer’s block. Which is kind of ironic, because I’m not even a “writer”. At least not in the professional sense. So let’s just say I have been stuck for anything interesting or profound to write about, that will leave you quoting me in your next book.

And thirdly, I have had other focuses that have claimed my attention. Everything from the cat to housecleaning, to listening to sermons and taking notes on the book of Romans, which our bible study group will be starting next week. So, all in all I have not given up blogging. I just have other priorities at the moment. But if my lack of blogging becomes too much for you, I can always train my cat to use the keyboard and he can write about what it is like to live with the human species.

For some reason my blog isn’t loading properly. Or more to the point, everything else seems to come up on the home page, except for the links to other blogs. Is anyone else having problems? Am I the only one not seeing things as they should? Does anyone know why Donald Duck doesn’t wear pants? And what exactly is Goofy?

Okay, it looks as though things are back to normal. Or at least for now.

According to the powers that be, Venezuela has decided that The Simpsons is bad for kids. And so, they have decided to replace it with Baywatch. Now I am not going to downplay any need for discernment when it comes to what kids should watch. But I am wondering how they came to the conclusion that Baywatch is somehow more kid friendly than The Simpsons. Is it just me, or does anyone else find their conclusion illogical?

  • Psalm 139: 13-14 (ESV)

    For you formed my inward parts;
    you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

    I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
    Wonderful are your works;
    my soul knows it very well.

    There were times during my depression, when I allowed the accusations of Satan to dominate my thinking, causing me to blame God for the so called “mistakes” that I believed He made when He created me. “Why did you make me ugly”, I would ask. But that Psalm tells me that His works are “wonderful.” The KJV uses the word “marvelous.” The Hebrew word is pala’, which can also be translated to mean “surpassing”, “extraordinary” or “separated by distinguishing action.” God’s works are something that cannot be surpassed: they are beyond perfection. But no matter how hard that may be for us to comprehend, the truth is that our standard of beauty comes from God, not from man. And God’s standard surpasses the standard of man.

    Since becoming the owner of a male feline, I have discover that they like to watch intently everything that you do. So far he has watched me do the ironing, clean my kitchen bench and cupboards, and do some sweeping. With his intense observation, it would be good if he could do some of those things himself. However I have just now discovered, that he does like to contribute to my blog posts. Below is his own work. Maybe you can decipher it.

    Religious people see Jesus still on the cross and ask “What do I have to do?”
    Christians see the empty cross and say “Thank You.”

    No, I have not had a baby. I have a new five week old kitten. And no, I did not give birth to the kitten. Come on people, keep up.

    My new kitten (named “Homer”), was given to me by a Christian couple who are friends of my mum, and another lady from church. However, it is almost like being the mother of a new baby; even though kittens and babies are different. I know there are some in this world that may not believe, but animals and humans are different.

    But they are similar when it comes to those little “accidents”, like last night when Homer decided to pee on my bed at 3:30 in the morning. Although it was probably partly my fault too. I got up to go use the toilet, and when I got back decided to nurse the kitty for a little while. It was after all his first night, and never having a kitten before, I was probably just a nervous as he was. But hopefully he’ll learn to use the litter try properly, and further accidents will be avoided.

    On the other hand, he had been listening to a sermon on “obedience” from the book of Ecclesiastes. Maybe there is some kind of connection there.

    I am going to confess something to you that may come as a shock, and that is “I am a sinner.” Yes, sometimes I say and do things I shouldn’t say or do. And guess what? You who maybe reading this blog are also a sinner. Yes, I know that’s a word we don’t like these days. So if it makes you feel better, let’s just say that “no one is perfect.”

    So why am I mentioning something that is probably obvious to most of us? Well, there is a “certain pastor” who I know loves Jesus and believes in the authority of Scripture, but sometimes says and does things that may be considered “inappropriate”. I have not mention this pastor’s name, because I’m sure he is must be tired of seeing his name being the blog topic of the week. However I’m sure some of you may know of whom I speak of, and perhaps have read some of the blogs dedicated to letting you know how much they disapprove of his words and actions, which of course attracts those people who know nothing about the man, who have never heard him preach, to add their own ignorant opinions.

    Now, I have already mention that this pastor is a sinner and that like all of us he has said and done things that perhaps he shouldn’t have. But what benefit is it to blog about all his failings? What benefit is it to write about him in such a way that allows misinformed information to be spread around by those who don’t know anything, or very little, about him? We are not talking about a false teacher, who should be brought to our attention. We are talking about a godly man who is a sinner just like the rest of us, and whom I’m sure had said and done things that have been hurtful to others, just as I’m sure we have.

    So here’s a final thought: why not pray for this man? Why not ask God to allow the Holy Spirit to convict this man of any sin, or to show him where he may still need to mature? And you know, this is something that I have been convicted of, since I am just as guilty of reading some of those blogs as those who have written them. Furthermore, I have also probably been guilty of blogging about people (even if my assessment of them may be valid), instead of praying for them and asking God to do His work in their lives.

    Let’s be friends.
